winter break, the red fox, and new haircuts

So, I was just in Portland a couple of weeks ago. (Literally. Two weeks ago.) And at the time, I wasn't exactly thrilled to be there-- mostly because I was sick, and there was no one around to play with, and even if there was, I was too sick to play with them. But I am infinitely more excited to go home this time around, for the following reasons (in no particular order.)

1. To watch Blazers games. (That one didn't change. I was pumped about that when I was home last month.)
2. To see my doggies and take naps with them (Actually, no... I'm done with napping for the rest of my life. I'll just snuggle with them.)
3. To hang out with my parents and Gentry in a less heavily mono-ed environment.
4. To see Courtney, Neil and brand new baby Ez after Christmas.
5. Christmas!
6. Meriwether staff Christmas party, combined with discussing an awesome (yet undecided) job offer with the camp director, as the two will be occurring simultaneously.
7. Staff Christmas party number two (the less official one, complete with Mama Ogle's cooking and some creative cookie cutters.)
8. Teaching some last-minute centennial merit badges before the year is over with some past nature directors. (Could I be next in line!?)
9. Seeing all of mi amigos that I haven't seen in months and months and months and months.

I feel like this list should be a nice, round 10-item list, but I've been thinking about those specific nine things for weeks now, and you can't just throw in one thing that you haven't actually been excited about.

Of course, today I watched a documentary on Yellowstone winters. I understand that 100% of you will 100% not care, but I found this extremely awesome. Call me a hippie. I know it's true. Now, let me explain: red foxes weigh at most 15 pounds, so they can just walk across the snow hakuna matata. In the winter, they scavenge for mice that have found warmth in the feet and feet of snow. The mice are a good six feet down.

Now tell me that's not awesome.

And this is the long-awaited, not-as-different-as-I-planned haircut. Who has two thumbs and a normal sized forehead? This guy. (...Girl.) Bangs = perfect for beanies.
