So! That was a crazy crash course in Kylie's first week of college... Okay, technically it hasn't started yet, but I've been here since Monday or Tuesday (I can't remember...) I had a freshman orientation type class all week, from 9-4. We basically just did workshops all week, like a "this is how the library works" workshop and a "here's is some advice from college professors" workshop. The only exciting thing that happened was on Thursday. As a class, we did a service project for Green Canyon Campground, so I got to spend the whole afternoon with people that work for the Forest Service. That's exactly what I want to do when I grow up!! Of all of the things we could have done for a service project, we did that. It was awesome. Divine providence right there.
So classes start on Monday. That's the thing I'm most nervous about... I'm taking the following classes: professional orientation for environment and society (intro to the major type class), natural resources and society, U.S. institutions, and civilizaiton: humanities. I have no idea what to think about any of them, except that I'm crazy nervous. Ah!
Like I alluded to up there, I'm getting along with my roommates really well! For whatever reason, I was never really nervous about having weird roommates or people I wouldn't get along with. And it's cool because I didn't actually have anything to be worried about! Karlee, Heather and Lauralyn are all friends from high school (from Ogden) and then Carly and Whitney are friends from Idaho. So I was nervous at first that I would be the outcast, but they're all friendly and welcoming so we're all friends already. Today me and the Ogden girls and some of their friends went shopping for the apartment, and got some whack stuff at D.I. For example: an amazing floor rug, and I found a quesadilla maker for $5. Today = success.
Whew! Sorry these posts have been so full of words lately. I'll try to tone it down haha and do some posts that don't hurt your brain as much. Congratulations if you actually read everything, I probably wouldn't have if I were you.
Proof that I'm in college:
Our cute living room, complete with beautiful blanket/rug from D.I. and one of the boys' longboards.
The bed corner of my dorm room.
My desk, complete with cool empty vase, obscure books, Aloe juice, and my Meriwether staff mug.
My roommate, Lauralyn, and I have the same printer. They sit like this. I think they hold hands when we're not looking.
There was this 3-4 inch praying mantis outside our doorway... He was huge and creepy but we didn't kill him.
